If you're in San Diego and craving a slice of authentic New York-style pizza, look no further than Rizers Pizza, located at 1459 Garnet Ave. With a reputation that's quickly becoming legendary in the area, Rizers Pizza offers an assortment of large 16" pizza specials, including veggie pies, savory Alfredo options, and an irresistible Bowery Boys combination of sausage, pepperoni, and robust veggies, all crafted with rich melty mozzarella and parmigiana cheese for just US$27.00.
The Sicilian variety is a must-try, where the deep pan style retains amazing flavors, whether you opt for a veggie mix or the deliciously loaded Bowery Boys. Prices hover around US$32.00 for these specials, and let me tell you, each bite is well worth it!
But Rizers isn't just about pizza. Their salads, like the hearty AntiPasta, bursting with meats and fresh veggies, and the classic Greek salad, offer lighter options that complement the main star - the pizza. For US$13.00 and US$11.00 respectively, these salads show that Rizers cares about balanced dining.
The ambiance of Rizers Pizza captures a laid-back charm. One customer, Jacob Rangel, describes it as a "hole-in-the-wall situation," reminiscent of typical New York pizza joints. Upon entering, diners are greeted by friendly staff and a casual vibe, making it a prime spot for both takeout and dining in.
Reviews frequently highlight the friendly service at Rizers, with customers like 'Bogy Fit' praising the staff's warmth and the value for money. 'Jack Tran' raved about the fresh toppings and crispy crust that elevate the pizza experience. The flavor profiles are tantalizing, where each slice maintains a perfect balance of crust, sauce, and toppings - something that truly resonates with lovers of good pizza.
Despite the rebranding from Hoboken, loyal patrons assure newcomers that Rizers Pizza remains consistent in quality and taste. Dita Prasodjo gives a shoutout to staff members who continue to deliver excellent service, proving that the heart of this pizzeria remains unchanged.
So, whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to stop in at Rizers Pizza for a slice (or a giant pie!). Your taste buds will thank you, and with an atmosphere that feels like home, each visit is bound to be a memorable one. Don’t forget to ask for the ranch on the side; it’s the perfect complement to your pizza experience!
“ Great pizza, great options, for a great price. Staff is super friendly ”
“ Was there this weekend visiting from AZ, place is like the hole in the wall situation that you see in your typical New York movies. Dine in is nothing crazy and if you are looking to save time like most of the other reviews, just ask for take out. I told them it was for dine-in knowing that it would mean being there for longer. No one bothered us, even with the place having constant foot traffic (You know the food is good when people keep walking in and out). At some point some kids ran in hiding from their friends. I thought they were just playing around running through the area when all of sudden a couple coaches and chaperones came in with about a party of 10 kids. It was not a bother, they sat down in the bench located in the middle, chaperones on the side tables, and it even made the place feel more family friendly. Only downside was that they ran out of beer options when I got there. It was Saturday at about 6:00 PM so I get it, Friday came in strong. Only options I had were the regular sodas, Coors Light and Stone IPA. Got my girlfriend a sprite and I would drink an IPA any day before any Coors light so I went with that option, great addition to the delicious pizza which definitely packs the NY feel to it and is AMAZING. Giant pie was 32 which is justified with the giant slices you get. Ate to satisfaction, took some home for the family, they loved it. From the reviews people are skeptical after their Hoboken rebrand but although I never came here back in the Hoboken management, I can assure that Rizers pizza delivered the best quality and customer service they could with such a busy location. Asked for ranch and homie brought it straight way ”
“ Great pizza and great staff! Spoiled cause I got the pie cooked fresh with fresh toppings and a crispy crust. Don't let the front fool you pictures below speak for it self go order one now! ”
“ Coming from New Haven, Ct and having, in my opinion the best selection of pizza restaurants around, Hoboken did not disappoint. Thin crust, cooked to perfection and well done, as requested. Toppings were not skimpy and flavor was, "Chef's Kiss." It was great to have the flavors of home. As far as the Atmosphere. Well it is a JOINT.. booths definitely could use some TLC as they were a bit beat up looking. Bathrooms were clean! Music was fun, 60-70's R&B playing through the speakers and TV's had the Baseball games playing...A definite PIZZA JOINT we will be back to. ”
“ This is still Hoboken guys!! They only changed their name. Pizza, menu, staff, all are still the same. Shoutout to Will for always hooking us up!! ”
“ We came here with our dog and holy shit they gave the dog a meatball. I’m amazed. I like the pizza too. But it’s always freezing in here and the music is often way too god damn loud. The meatball thing was awesome tho ”
“ My mom and I went in for Mother’s Day. The pizza was superb—earned two thumbs up from my mom (a New Jersey native). We’d like to give a shout out to Grant. My mom remarked that it’s so rare nowadays to pay a fair price for food AND have a nice and happy conversation with the person behind the counter. He alone is a reason to go back for more pizza! ”
“ we ordered a few pizzas for our pregame for a girls weekend and though we had to wait a little longer than expected, Grant was so friendly and we had so much fun chit chatting while waiting. they even threw in some extra ranch and made it worth the wait! great employees ”
